Turmeric

Turmeric or turmeric, (Curcuma longa Linn. syn. Curcuma domestica Val.), is a spice and medicinal plant native to Southeast Asia. This plant then spread to Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and even Africa. Almost every Indonesian and Indian as well as Asian peoples generally have consumed this spice plant, either as a complement to cooking spices, herbs or medicine to maintain health and beauty such as use in skin and facial treatments. Turmeric belongs to the ginger group, Zingiberaceae. Turmeric is known in various regions by several local names including turmeric (English), kurkuma (Netherlands), turmeric (Indonesia and Malaysia), janar (Banjar), turmeric (Java), koneng (Sunda), huni (Bima), kony ‘ (Madura), Kunyir (Komering). Cahang (Dayak Panyambung), Dio (Panihing), Uinida (Talaud), Kuni (Sangir), Alawaha (Gorontalo), and many other unique names spread from the territory of Indonesia considering that Indonesia has various regions and languages. Turmeric is a spice commonly used in cooking in Asian countries. Turmeric is often used as a spice in dishes such as curry, and is also used to give food a yellow color, or as a preservative.[3] Pharmaceutical products made from turmeric, are able to compete with various patent drugs, for example for joint inflammation (arthritis-rheumatoid) or osteo-arthritis with the active ingredients of declofenac sodium, piroxicam, and phenylbutasone at relatively expensive prices or dietary supplements (Vitamin-plus) in capsule form. The finished product from turmeric extract in the form of a dietary supplement in the form of a capsule (Vitamin-plus) has developed its market and industry. The dietary supplement is made from turmeric extract with additional ingredients of Vitamin B1, B2, B6, B12, Vitamin E, Lecithin, Amprotab, Mg-stearate, Nepagin and Kolidon 90. Tubers (rhizomes) that are more than one year old can be used as medicine Turmeric tubers (rhizomes) are efficacious to cool the body, cleanse, affect the stomach, especially the stomach, stimulate, release excess gas in the intestines, stop bleeding and prevent blood clots.
